For great travel deals, Athens, Greece is one of the best, sadly they have a failing economy and a huge debt crisis, but the travel deals are still a plenty and this is great news not just for you as a traveler, but more travelers means more tourism revenue which they desperately need. Even with the recession though the city is expanding it’s subway project and adding new subway lines which makes getting around a breeze. A full day pass only costs $5.40! April and May are great times to go, except April 15th when there are Easter festivities and price hikes. A great place to stay is the 11-room Magna Grecia, beautiful high ceilings and a rooftop restaurant with stunning views, rooms from $107, you can’t beat it.
